An Unforgettable Experience in Nashville with Aubrie

We had waited all day. Our palms were sweaty, as we tried to force down our soft, buttery, McDonald’s biscuits. It was hard to enjoy our breakfast due to all of the butterflies in our stomachs. All morning my grandparents, Aubrie, and I had piled on the brown couch watching it occur in different cities. Seeing the excitement on other people’s faces from the effect just made my stomach clench up even more. Finally, the moment arrived……...THE SOLAR ECLIPSE.

The anticipation built up even more as we sat down to lunch. We were sitting in lounging chairs, eating our Jersey Mike's subs, while watching the sun slowly disappear behind the moon. My Pap was “sun-tanning” in his chair taking selfies of himself. We were wearing our Solar Eclipse glasses while listening to “The Solar Eclipse Playlist” as the excitement grew within us. It looked like someone had taken a bite off the sun like they would while eating a cookie. As the light gradually faded away the birds and insects got confused and started chirping. It got darker, and darker, and darker until at last it was pitch black!

Totality is one of those gorgeous moments that you will never forget. The screams from the thrilled neighbors pierced our ears as we stood watching in amazement. It looked like crystals sparkling in a circle shape around the black hole. Solar flares were happening as well. Aubrie and I were holding hands as we watched this unforgettable experience come to an end.

That trip to Nashville is a trip that I will never forget. It is so memorable to me because it is not something that everyone got to experience. Maybe one day, I will get to see a total solar eclipse again. This journey will never be forgotten.
